The Newpoint Surge Protector

The Newpoint surge protector is designed to protect connected equipment from the damages of power surges. All surge protectors have a maximum load capacity at which point they will stop functioning and will cease to protect your equipment. However, Newpoint surge protectors guarantee a lifetime warranty against defects in their equipment should your own become damaged as a result of said defect.

Not all surge protection devices are created the same. Most surge protectors only protect in one manner. They filter the ‘hot’ line of the power circuit. This leaves the normally grounded lines unfiltered. While this is fine for normal power surges it does nothing in the event of a lightning strike near the home.

Newpoint Surge ProtectorThe normally uncharged ground wires will carry the lightning discharge along and into your equipment. The surge protection device that does not have all three wires filtered will not protect your electronics in this instance and not only will the equipment be destroyed, there is a very real danger that it may catch fire.

The Newpoint surge protector is one of the few brands out there that do protect against this possible threat. Each of the lines, both ground and the standard hot line, are filtered to protect against damaging surges and fluctuations in electrical power.

The protectors come in a variety of sizes. These range from simple 2 outlet plugs to larger eight outlets and more that can protect multiple appliances and high end electronics. Many of their units offer protection phone line and coaxial connections as well as satellite and AV protection.

Newpoint surge protection equipment is considered heavily over-engineered by some, but no one that purchases one complains about this. Their products come with so many additional features that it would be foolish to trust your high end lap top to a twenty dollar power strip from Wal-mart.

Newpoint is so confident in their technology that they offer major warranties and insurance benefits toward those that purchase equipment from them. One model in-particular, the Newpoint surge protector DBS5, has lightning insurance of up to one hundred thousand dollars.
